Andreas Kossert, born in 1970, studied history, Slavic studies and politics. The doctor of history worked at the German Historical Institute in Warsaw and has lived as a historian and author in Berlin since 2010. He received enthusiastic reactions to his historical depictions of Masuria (2001) and East Prussia (2005). Most recently, he published his bestseller »Kalte Heimat. The history of the German expellees after 1945 "(2008) and" East Prussia. History of a Historic Landscape ”(2014). He was awarded the Georg Dehio Book Prize for his work.
In 2020 his new book FLUCHT - A Human History was published by Siedler Verlag.
